The bible has had many different interpretations from many religious denominations. Some things, such as prophecies, are very hard to interpret. Therefore, no human should state that his or her interpretation is fact.
Below are some misconceptions that people have of God’s Word. (Some misconceptions listed may be held as truths by others and may not, in fact, be misconceptions. Only Jehovah God and Jesus know what the truth is.)
Are God and Jesus the same?
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”-John 1:1 (King James Version)
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god.”-John 1:1 (New World Translation)
” In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”-John 1:1 (American Standard Version)
“At the first there was the Word, and the Word was where God was, and the Word was God.”- (Byington Version)
Note that each version of the bible, except the New World Translation, states that “the Word was God.” People use this scripture to explain that Jesus and God are the same. The New World Translation, published by the Watchtower Organization, and The New Testament, a bible published by a spirit medium and occultist name Johannes Greber, change the scripture by adding the article “a” to read “the Word was a God.” The Watchtower does not believe that Jesus and God are the same, and most likely, changed this scripture to agree with their belief.
Below is a scripture where Jesus is referred to as God’s son.
” For God so loved the world that he gave his only son that everyone who believes in him might not perish but have eternal life.”-John 3:16 (Byington Version)
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”-John 3:16 (King James Version)
Note that both the KJV and BYV state that God sent his “only son.” One can then infer that Jesus and God are not the same. While they are one along with the holy spirit, in the sense that they work together and cannot exist without the other, God is above Jesus. He is considered Jesus’ father. The Watchtower organization and the occultist, Johannes Greber, shouldn’t have changed the scripture to agree with their beliefs, but, rather, should have just explained their belief this way. No man should change scriptures.
